Spring Floral Hoop Wreath

We recently gave our kitchen some updates (I’ll share those soon) and I had an empty wall that was just screaming for something simple……but pretty.

I currently have a huge crush on blush pink and decided a hoop wreath in blush pink and light green would be perfect for spring and summer. I’m in LOVE with the way it turned out!

This easy DIY hoop wreath takes less than 30 minutes and only requires just a few supplies. Keep reading and I’ll walk you through the simple steps! There’s even a printable craft card at the end of the post, for your convenience.

What Do I Need To Make a Floral Hoop Wreath?

When it comes to finding what you’ll need to make the wreath, you’ll only be buying hoops, not jumping through them to find what you need. *Insert pity laugh for my bad joke*

You’ll only need to pick up a few things, all of which can be found easily at your local Michael’s, hobby lobby, or any equivalent store. If you prefer to pick up your supplies online, be sure to check out the convenient shoppable links below!

For supplies, you’ll need:

  • an embroidery hoop (I used an 18-inch for my hoop wreath, but you can certainly choose any size you want!).
  • floral wire and/or a hot glue gun and glue
  • wire clippers

Choosing The Right Greenery For Your Hoop Wreath

Along with your basics that you’ll need for the wreath, you’ll also need to choose the faux greenery and florals to attach.

You’re more than welcome to choose your personal favorites if you have something in mind, but if you’re anything like me, you’ll take the arrangement help anywhere you can get it.

Here’s what I used for this wreath:

  • 3 floral stems (roses and ranunculus)
  • 2 bunches of mini roses
  • 3 bunches of lamb’s ear
  • 2 white hanging berry stems
  • I bought some faux baby’s breath but ended up not using it

Can I Repurpose This Hoop Wreath?

Of course! For this wreath, I used a little trick to make it easy to repurpose for other seasons. Simply don’t use hot glue to attach the greenery and flowers. If you just use floral wire you’ll be able to take it apart and make a whole new design whenever you want!

This trick is the best if you’re someone like me who loves to switch up the decor, but doesn’t like to break the bank buying all new stuff every season.

Tips For Hanging Your Hoop Wreath

If you plan to hang your wreath in a place that might get bumped and banged around a lot, I suggest using hot glue.

The glue will keep things nice and secure, so you aren’t pretty much re-making the whole thing every time someone slams a door.

How Do You Make A Floral Hoop Wreath

(Full printable how-to at the bottom of the post)

  1. Remove the inner ring from the embroidery hoop for your wreath. Set the outer ring aside, it’s not needed for this project, but you could use it for another wreath.
  2. Lay out the florals and determine how you would like to arrange them on the hoop. Generally, hoop wreaths have florals only on about 1/2 of the wreath. Snip the florals into individual stems and play around with the arrangement until it feels just right.
  3. Attach everything once you have your floral hoop wreath laid out. Start with the greens and secure them to the hoop, then the flowers in the center.
  4. Hang your wreath! The hoop wreath is very lightweight. Use a clear thumbtack, a clear 3M hook, nail or add a ribbon to the hoop wreath and hang it by the ribbon.

How to Make a Floral Hoop Wreath Tutorial

Yield: 1 wreath
Active Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Difficulty: Easy

This new eye-catching wreath trend is simplistic and perfect for the front door, a nursery, mantle, any wall or even party decor.

Materials

  • 1 large wood embroidery/quilt hoop (mine is 18-inch)
  • faux flowers of various size
  • faux greenery
  • floral wire (I use 26 gauge)
  • hot glue (if using glue gun)

Tools

  • wire or bead buddy clippers
  • hot glue gun (optional)

Instructions

  1. Remove the inner hoop from the embroidery/quilt hoops to use and set the outer hoop (the one with the screw) aside, you will not be using that piece.
  2. The next step is to lay out the florals and determine how you would like to arrange them on the hoop. Generally, hoop wreaths have florals only on about 1/2 of the wreath. I envisioned the bottom half of the wreath into thirds, with all the flowers being in the middle and the greenery on each side. I snipped the florals into individual stems and I played around with the arrangement until it felt just right. You can of course use as many or few florals as you'd like.
  3. Once you have your floral hoop wreath laid out, you’re going to attach everything. I started with the greens and secured them to the hoop, then the flowers in the center. If you’d like, you can use dots of hot glue to secure the wire and florals in place (highly recommend if your wreath will be on a door).
  4. Hang your wreath! The hoop wreath is very lightweight. I simply used a clear thumbtack to hang mine on my kitchen wall, but you could use a clear 3M hook, nail or add a ribbon to the hoop wreath and hang it by the ribbon.

Notes

I only used floral wire and no glue, so I can take it apart and change up the florals for another season if I want.
