Did you know that October is National Fair Trade month?
Not sure what Fair Trade is? Fair Trade means that farmers and workers are justly compensated for their harvest, allowing them to invest back into their farms and communities. By establishing Fair Trade prices farmers are able to practice sustainable growing techniques and are supported in learning new skills that will preserve their land for generations to come and create safe working conditions . It means helping workers and helping families improve their standard of living, keep their kids in school, and strengthen their local communities and economies.
With Fair Trade, the money you spend on day-to-day goods can improve an entire community’s day-to-day lives. For more than a decade, Green Mountain Coffee® has been a leader in the fair trade movement, providing a better cup of coffee to consumers and a better quality of life for coffee farmers.
Green Mountain Coffee Roasters® commitment to Fair Trade makes me proud to be apart of their team as a K-cup Ambassador.
Check out this infographic on Fair Trade USA for a better understanding of how Fair Trade works. It demonstrates what happens when you choose products with the Fair Trade Certified label (like Green Mountain Coffee).
